Mount Bromo

Mount Bromo is one of Indonesia’s most iconic volcanoes, located in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. The park spans four regencies in East Java: Probolinggo, Malang, Pasuruan, and Lumajang.

Most travelers begin their journey from Probolinggo to Cemoro Lawang village, the main gateway to Bromo. From here, a Jeep Hardtop (4WD) takes you to Penanjakan View Point, the best spot to witness the legendary Bromo sunrise. The early morning climb rewards visitors with breathtaking views as the sun rises above the volcanic horizon, with Mount Bromo’s active crater smoking in the distance.

After sunrise, the adventure continues with panoramic views of Mount Batok, Mount Semeru, the Sea of Sand, Teletubbies Hill (Savannah), Whispering Sands, and the sacred Pura Luhur Poten temple, where the Tenggerese people hold traditional ceremonies. On clear days, you may even spot a rainbow stretching across the caldera — a rare and magical sight.

Madakaripura Waterfalls

Just 45 minutes from Bromo lies the mystical Madakaripura Waterfalls, believed to be the hermitage of Gajah Mada, the legendary prime minister of the Majapahit Kingdom.

The journey to the falls includes a 20‑minute scenic walk from the main gate. Towering moss‑covered cliffs, misty air, and sparkling water droplets create a magical atmosphere, making Madakaripura one of the tallest and most enchanting waterfalls in Indonesia. The trail can be slippery, so trekking shoes and rain protection are highly recommended.
